What it is made of
Per person, per day: accommodation ¥9,000-13,000 (€48-70, shared double in Ginza), meals ¥3,500-6,000 (€19-32: lunch at a counter or in the market, dinner in an izakaya), transport ¥800-1,500 (€4-8; the Kamakura day climbs to ¥2,700 between the return train and the Enoden), entries ¥800-1,500 on average (€4-8: shrines and temples free or nearly so, but teamLab Planets at ¥3,600 and the Skytree at ¥1,800 weigh on their own days). Total ¥16,000-24,000, that is €85-130 at the July 2026 rate: inside the comfort range, as long as you don't sit down to dinner in Ginza every single night.
Where to stay, and what it costs
- Japanese chain hotel in Ginza or Kyōbashi (Monterey, Mitsui Garden, Solaria) — double €110-150 per night: small but immaculate rooms, three subway lines on your doorstep and Tokyo Station on foot for the Kamakura train
- Business hotel in Asakusa or Kuramae — €75-110 per night: you save €30-40 a night and sleep in the district that's loveliest first thing in the morning, in exchange for 20 minutes more towards Shinjuku and the bay
