What it is made of
Per person, per day, at ~£1≈€1.17: accommodation €100-145 (shared double in a central area, £170-250 per night), meals €35-55 (market lunch or street food £8-12, dinner in a pub or neighbourhood restaurant £20-30), transport €7-10 (contactless with the ~£8.90 daily cap), entries €10-20 on average — the British Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern and V&A are free, while the big paid ones (Tower of London ~£37, Westminster Abbey ~£31, London Eye from ~£29, St Paul's dome ~£27) weigh on single days but spread out they fit. Total €150-220: the full comfort range, honest for London if you book everything in advance.
Where to stay, and what it costs
- 3-4 star hotel between Covent Garden, the Strand and Bloomsbury — double £170-250 per night (~€200-290): the West End on foot, the river five minutes away and the Tube around the corner
- Chain hotel or guesthouse on the South Bank or between Paddington and Bayswater — £130-190 per night (~€150-220): a few more Tube stops in exchange for kinder rates
