Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar technologies (such as localStorage) perform equivalent functions and are treated the same way in this policy.

2. Cookies we use

Essential technical cookies: Supabase session cookies to keep you signed in. Saving trips to your profile cannot work without them; they do not require consent.

Language technical cookie: NEXT_LOCALE keeps the language you are reading as you move from page to page. It has no expiry set: it disappears on its own when you close the browser. It is set by the page translation system; it requires no consent.

Free-trial technical cookie: clustrip_prova_id is a random code identifying the browser, not you. The count of your trials does not live in it but on our server, so an engine error does not burn one of yours. It is a pseudonymous identifier that stays in the browser: it contains no name, email or IP address of yours, we do not cross-reference it with other data and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. It exists only to make the free trial work, so it is technical and requires no consent. On some browsers you may find clustrip_prova_usata instead, an older counter: the two never coexist, and the same applies to it.

Preferences and data stored on your device: your cookie choice, the Free-plan itinerary, map routes already calculated (so they are not recomputed every time), the reminder that you already rated an itinerary, the form draft while you browse, your newsletter choice pending sign-in, when you last saw the invitation to support us, your country code (it decides whether you see °C or °F) and, if you have an account, the marker of which profile news you have already looked at — that last one carries your user identifier in its name. Plus a few technical markers that avoid repeating the same calls during a visit. All of it lives in your browser's storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). This data stays on your device and never reaches an archive of ours; it is cleared by clearing the site data in your browser.

Third-party cookies: on the Supporters page, the Ko-fi donation form is loaded ONLY if you choose to open it (an explicit click) and uses its own technical cookies. Once subscriptions are active, Stripe's payment page (on Stripe's domain) will use its own technical anti-fraud cookies.

3. Non-essential cookies

Clustrip uses no profiling cookies and no analytics cookies. Traffic statistics are collected with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies (cookieless) and creates no individual profiles; our internal statistics also work without cookies and without identifiers: we count pages visited and country of origin, never your IP address. Your IP address is instead processed, for no more than an hour and solely to stop abuse, by the security counters described in the Privacy Policy: they do not measure traffic and never enter the statistics. Should non-essential cookies be introduced in the future, they will be activated only after your explicit consent via the banner (prior blocking).

4. Managing cookies

You can change your choice by clearing the site data from your browser (the banner will reappear) and manage or delete cookies from your browser settings.
