How much does a trip to Lisbon cost?

What it is made of
Per person, per day: accommodation €70-100 (shared double between Baixa and Chiado), meals €35-50 (prato do dia or petiscos at lunch, a tasca or the market in the evening), transport €3-7.25 (Carris/Metro day pass, or 2-3 rides on the Navegante), admissions €20-30 on average. Here is the honest part: Lisbon's state museums have gone up a lot, and these four days at full price come to roughly €113 a head — Castelo €17, Jerónimos €18, Belém Tower €15, Padrão €10, Sé €7, the Arch €5, Carmo €7, São Vicente €8, Panteão €10, MAAT €16. The sensible move is to pick five or six and enjoy the rest from outside: the miradouros, the churches, the MAAT roof and the neighbourhoods cost nothing, and they are half the trip. Total €130-180: a full comfort bracket, realistic for Lisbon in 2026.
Where to stay, and what it costs
- A 3-4 star hotel between Restauradores and the Baixa — double room €140-200 a night: metro and Rossio station on the doorstep, the whole centre on foot and a downhill walk home at night
- A B&B or guesthouse in Chiado or Príncipe Real — €120-180 a night: a district that is lively and genteel at once, but count on stairs and climbs every time you head back
